Dr Mark, when I ordered Triphala from Swanson Products. I asked What are the ingredients? (I haven't received the product as yet). I don't recognize the herbs as being those listed by Tierra in his herb book under 'Triphala'. Is Swanson's the genuine thing or have less expensive herbs been substituted or something?
My health is not good, and I don't want to fool around with inadequate products. Please respond.

Thanks for asking. Yes, it is the real thing. The work "triphala" means three fruits. All triphala formulations contain these same three ingredients.
Swanson (Komal Herbs) are wildcrafted and so the amlaki used is much more effective than the hybridized type used in many other formulations. The three fruits are: Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Bibhitaki (Terminalia belerica), and Haritaki (Terminalia chebula). Keep in mind that there are many different names used for the same herbs, so it can admittedly be dificult to decipher at times.
If you are having some health challenges I recommend seeing a qualified practitioner. I am available for phone consultation, or you may find someone near you.
